Detoxify Your Brain in 3 Weeks!

When I heard about this book, I thought that it was probably a bunch of bunk. I has been mired in depression for much of my adult life, and I’ve looked for many avenues to free myself from that depression. Nothing I’d found worked for long, but Switch On Your Brain seems to have done the trick. The book is an excellent primer on cognitive development and even quantum science as it relates to the brain. That is to say, there is no fluff in this book. It works off of proven scientific methods for changing your thought processes one step at a time. In the middle of the book, you’ll be asked to start Dr. Caroline Leaf’s 21-day brain detoxification regimen. I did, and I have never felt happier in my life.
I’ve also used 21 Things You Should Give Up To Be Happy in tandem with Switch On Your Brain. Written by Alvin Huang and Chris D’Cruz, 21 Things You Should Give Up To Be Happy is a treatise on all the negative thoughts and behaviors that you just need to get rid of. Many of our negative self-thoughts come from wanting to please others, but it’s important to realize that you have to give that stuff up. You have to give up wanting everyone to like you. In my case, I was always obsessed with gaining the approval of everyone. I thought if everyone liked me, then maybe I’d be happy. Of course, we know that there is no such thing a universal approval from everyone.
If you’re looking for a neuroscience-based program to really detoxify your brain, then you can’t beat Switch On Your Brain. It’s the best way to flush out all those negative thoughts and hindrances from your psyche. 21 Things You Should Give Up To Be Happy is also a great book for learning how to excise negative self-thoughts from your life. I would say that both of these books have helped me dig my way out of my depression. It wasn’t easy, but it has been well worth it. I’m glad I was able to change my brain and let go of all the hindrances to my progress.

Excellent Book!!!

I love this book! Usually, I don't read a book all the way through. Books get tedious and too wordy and I lose interest and start "skimming". This is such an easy book to read and understand and has a very good message. I am reading it again, taking notes as I go. One of my all time favorites!!

Part 1 is great; Part 2 is pretty bad

Part 1 correlates science and the Bible and I got so excited I told all my friends and family to buy the book. I began to see Bible verses in a way I had never experienced before.
But the book is very technical and full of terms like "multiple-perspective advantage" and "integrative functional organization" and "task positive network" and "default mode network." Each term becomes MPA, IFO, etc., to be remembered for the rest of the book.
Part 2 is the plan to follow and it is spread out over a number of chapters and so confusing, non-specific, and without examples, that I don't know what I am supposed to do. I am going back to Part 1 and use the Biblical truths to remake my brain on my own.
I am sorry to be so negative but after a great start, Dr. Leaf shot herself in the foot. There are 30 pages of notes and recommended reading in teeny tiny print. THERE IS NO INDEX. Give me a break!
The premise of the book is fantastic but Dr. Leaf has not used her communication skills effectively. Only Part 1 makes it worth my time.
