I never forgot her. Not for one minute. Not from the last time I saw her, at seventeen, to today. I measured all women against her and all women came up short.

But being with her was unfeasible in high school, and it's taboo now.

I see her sometimes, but I've never spoken to her. She runs, or I run. We're in the same town, on the same block, in the same building, and the gulf between us is just too wide to cross.

Until tonight.

----

He was my high school crush, back when I lived in a world that didn't want me. He was the perfect boy, and I was the outcast kid from the other side of town. And when he held my hand I thought I could fit in, just a little. I thought I could be his and he could be mine.

Then he left, and my life fell apart.

Now we are the king and queen of opposite sides of Hollywood. And we haven't spoken a word to each other.

Until tonight.

Review
"Tender romance, smart writing. A total winner. Smart and romantic with characters you will root for until the end. I'm already looking forward to reading this book again. A story rich with tenderness and romance, written with the intelligence and wit that is all CD Reiss. I loved everything about Shuttergirl!" ―Mia Sheridan, bestselling author of the Sign of Love series
"A confident, badass heroine and a swoon worthy, good guy find each other in CD Reiss's latest contemporary romance. It's a Hollywood affair with more colors of reality than fairytale, depicting an honest and endearing paparazzi meets movie star relationship that captures all the swoon and flutters of the best love stories. With strikingly beautiful prose and the contrasting gritty, vivid Los Angeles setting, Shuttergirl is Reiss's finest work yet." ―Laurelin Paige, author of the bestselling Fixed Trilogy
"Engaging, sexy, and noteworthy, Shuttergirl is just another example of why CD Reiss is one of my go to authors. Her clean writing style, flawed but relatable characters, and well-crafted story make this book one that's hard to put down even after you read the last page." ―Kristy Bromberg, bestselling author of the Driven Trilogy
"Rich with tenderness, romance and wit―I loved everything about it." ―Mia Sheridan, NY Times bestselling author of Archer's Voice
"Forbidden yet sweet. Shuttergirl will make you believe that love has the power to break down all barriers. CD Reiss shows us her sweet side, but still manages to keep things sexy as hell." ―Claire Conteras, author of There Is No Light In Darkness
"I went into Shuttergirl not knowing what magic CD Reiss had created. Instantly, I was swept away with perfect prose, incredible imagery, and a character connection I loved. In my mind, it was a perfect modern day fairy-tale where the loved and hated try to bridge the chasm of society's unwritten laws and listen to what they want, rather than what Hollywood tells them. It's the shit. Buy it." ―Pepper Winters, bestelling author of the Monsters in the Dark series
About the Author
CD Reiss is a USA Today bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn't pick up, she's at the well, hauling buckets.
Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master's degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere, but it gave her a big enough ego to try her hand at novels. She€™ll tell you all about it in the back, where a cord of wood awaits.
If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

I fell in love with Michael & Laine! CD Reiss captures the perfect love story hidden behind the glitz and grime of Hollywood!
By Michelle New
There is no question that I love Christine’s writing or that she is nestled comfortably in the list of my favorite authors. So going into Shuttergirl I knew that I’d get exceptional writing but this would be different from the erotic nature of the Songs of Series’ that preceded this release.
Shuttergirl is a contemporary romance accompanied by a second chance love story that is set in Hollywood. Both sides of the city are revealed in this tale. The glamour, the blinding flash of the camera and the dirt beneath your fingernails. The shiny is flipped over and the tarnished underbelly is exposed as we meet Laine and Michael. Two sides to Hollywood. Two sides that feed off of each other – sides that rely on one another to survive in a city that is just waiting for the next big thing to take the next big fall. Hollywood. A place where the only thing greater than your success is your failure being captured.
Laine, our heroine hasn’t lived the privileged life. Even while growing up with foster parents that were able to place in in the life of privilege, she was still on the outside looking in. Now although in the thick of things, she still stands behind a lens – watching the world from a distance.
I adored the sides of Laine that we get. No doubt she had her strengths, but what I truly loved about her was that she had this vulnerability that did not make her weak. She was tough, she was a fighter and ultimately she knew how to survive.
Michael came across as swoony as a hero can be. He was this nice guy living among sharks, able to keep them at bay and still remain unaffected by them. I loved that I was kept on my toes with him. I was always waiting for something to happen. For the perfect to be fractured. And yeah, there is a time when Michael does have me banging my head against the wall; but at the same time I had absolute faith in him.
Being that this is a contemporary romance, be prepared for sweet. That is what this genre delivers. There is some steamy scenes, but understand that you aren’t going to have this punishing dominant male that is claiming his woman – you get the soft, the sweet – the down-right-weak-in-the-knees moments. I think having had read this and having time to think about this story, I can honestly say that this author can do no wrong. I loved that we got the same unique style of writing we expect from this author – the ability to bend words to her will. To paint a scene in such a way that just blows you away.
In the end this book allowed me as a reader to escape for a few hours. To let the world fall away, to remove the frown and the stress of real life and find this alternative reality within these pages. A place where happily ever after exists. Where the hero always gets the girl and where love does truly conquer all. And although the Songs of Series will always hold a special place in my heart and I will never stop wanting more of the Drazens, but I want to see what this author can do. I want to watch her expand her comfort zone. I want to see her take us from punishments to intimate embraces.
Shuttergirl was exceptionally written. It was a love story set in the land of possibilities, cloaked in the glitz of Hollywood, captured one frame at a time. This is a must read for 2015.

When Hollywood Silver Spoons Dates TMZ
By Gail H
3.5 stars. ****This review may contain spoilers*****
Shuttergirl is one of the most recent Hollywood stories that I've read, and I believe the first time that I've read CD Reiss. This review was a tough one to write, because there were times that the story was more than 3.5 stars. Let me start from the beginning, the author put a different spin on this Hollywood story, Laine is a successful member of the Hollywood paparazzi , she's one of the best, and Michael is a successful actor, the son of film royalty. So I was expecting Laine and Michael to be sworn enemies considering their career choices, but what's surprising is that the author made them more frenemies in the beginning than adversaries. They are both respectful to each other and careful not to cross any lines. I like that Laine is written with integrity, yet strong, and Michael is not the douche-bag actor that I expected.
They have a history together from their teenage years, and just as they are about to embark on reacquainting and exploring more, the reader finds out that Laine also has some dark secrets from her past. Laine's profession and life has been about photographing and selling the secrets and lifestyles of celebrities, but once the tabloids discover that Laine is the new love interest of a Hollywood hunk, Laine goes from being the hunter to the hunted. And like *click* any other *click* celebrity, once Laine achieves *click* certain recognition *click*, those little dark secrets *click* come back to bite her on the butt. This is where the story goes from 55 mph to 100 mph, it becomes more enthralling, because that secret has the ability to wreck her future or ruin his career. But soon afterwards, the people who have threatened to expose the secret are dealt with, and the situation is no longer a threat. I needed more to come from the secret, I wanted more interaction between Laine, Jake, and Michael. I wanted a showdown at the O.K. Corral. Now there is fallout from the secret, but it's more cherry bombs instead of the potential Roman candle explosions.
After the secrets of Laine's past are handled, she and Michael have to decide whether the relationship is worth losing their careers and reputations. The story loses some of its momentum towards the end.
I like that the author gave the reader two mature adults, instead of a crying self-doubting female and a self-absorbed actor. I also like that Reiss made Laine strong enough to acknowledge and deal with her past, and Michael is kind enough to be sympathetic and understanding. Although this story wasn't a five star read for me, it was still entertaining, and I wouldn't hesitate reading another book by CD Reiss.

Arc provided by the author for an honest review
By silvia
When I read the first paragraph, no, scratch that, when I read the first sentence, I knew CD Reiss claimed me as her own once again.
"From the ports of San Pedro to the base of the Angeles National Forest, from Santa
Monica Beach to the trench we call a river, I own this city."
CD Reiss owns this city. She took me on a ride through alley ways, on freeways, twisting through canyons, bar hopping through clubs and more, with all the glitz, glamour, and grit of LA. The paparazzi was chasing us in hot pursuit. And it all led to Shuttergirl!
Shuttergirl is a second chance love story of former high school classmates, Laine and Michael, whose lives couldn't be more opposite. How they met the first time and what brought them back together ten years later, is truly a story straight out of Hollywood.
Laine, Shuttergirl, was a product of several foster homes, the good, the negligent, and the unbelievably horrendous. She dropped out of high school and with her talent behind a lens, she became a member of the LA's rabid paparazzi.
Michael was the child of Hollywood royalty, and became an actor in his own right but unlike so many others in his profession, he was able to keep himself isolated from all the Hollywood drama.
So when Michael gets caught in Laine's crosshairs, the lines become blurred between predator and prey. Their love story resumes and I got swept up in it but then secrets from the past starts rearing its head. I found myself cheering for their love to survive as I looked down on them from the bleachers. I found myself taking sides, first for Laine, then for Michael. I found myself praying to the author! I know, I know, it's strange but true!
In other words, I was captivated and I hung on every word! So grab this book and read it, experience it, live it.
CD Reiss captures the feel of LA better than any author I've read hands down and makes this city and her characters come alive for me. I want to thank her for gifting me with this arc. I'm giving her, her writing, and this book, 5 stars.
